Responsible adoption. Clear accountability.

AI Governance Readiness

Turn AI interest into a practical approach to policy, use-case decisions, risk review and responsible implementation.

Fractional CISO and advisory engagements are scoped through Legion Cyberworks.

The problem addressed

AI adoption can move faster than policy and accountability. Teams need a clear way to decide which uses are appropriate, what information can be shared, who approves a use case, and how the organization will monitor its impact.

Who this is for

Organizations introducing AI or expanding its use, including established teams that need direction for a defined AI initiative. The work is tailored to the organization’s operating environment and business constraints.

What’s included

  • Review of current AI use, readiness and priority use cases.
  • AI acceptable-use policy development and ownership decisions.
  • Use-case intake, risk review and third-party AI considerations.
  • An implementation workshop and guidance for one agreed priority use case.

What you receive

  • A tailored AI acceptable-use policy.
  • An intake and approval workflow with a responsibility matrix.
  • A documented risk review for the agreed scope.
  • A phased implementation roadmap with guardrails and monitoring expectations.

How the work progresses

  1. Understand the use

Identify business objectives, current AI activity, stakeholders and the use case that matters most.

  2. Review the risk

Examine data use, access, vendor dependencies, output reliability and the need for human oversight.

  3. Set the guardrails

Establish policy, decision rights, approval steps and clear responsibilities.

  4. Prepare to implement

Work through the agreed priority use case and establish the actions and oversight needed for adoption.

Relevant experience

At NCEMC, I developed board-level AI policy and guidance and worked on practical AI adoption and AI-enabled cybersecurity capabilities. My experience also includes AI risk assessment and security leadership in heavily regulated environments. That combination informs an approach that connects policy with the way teams actually work.

Scope and timing

4–6 weeks for the initial readiness package. Implementation support depends on the selected use case and agreed scope.

Production integration or deployment is separately scoped. The readiness package defines the policy, decisions and implementation steps needed for the agreed use case.
